The CIH certified, ‘Opportunities for Empowerment’ event will take place on 15-16 June at Trafford Hall, Chester.

Housing associations and other organisations are being encouraged to bring representatives from their tenant groups to a 2-day residential think-tank event, designed to reinvigorate resident involvement and community activity post Covid-19.

Delivered by the National Communities Resource Centre (NCRC), the course will give attendees a better understanding of the support residents will need to achieve their community goals. With support from The Learning Foundry, the course takes a creative approach to allow ideas and discussions to flow freely, drawing inspiration the stunning Trafford Hall grounds.

Created to benefit both organisations and residents, the CIH certified course will support attendees to create an action plan that benefits both parties in equal measure. Attendees can also expect to develop key skills such as communication, negotiation, and planning.

Lesley Burrows, Managing Director of NCRC said, “Tenant empowerment events have been part of NCRC’s core since its inception, enabling residents to play an active role in their communities and use their voices and skills to create positive change. This event is a perfect opportunity for housing associations, landlords, local councils, and community groups to learn how they can better engage with their resident-led groups.”

Now part of the Regenda Group, NCRC is continuing its mission to create fairer communities across the UK by giving people the skills, knowledge, confidence, and connections they need to change the world around them, with a strong programme of events planned throughout 2022.

Lesley continues, “We have a varied programme of events planned for this year! In partnership with the London School of Economics and Political Science we have developed two academies focusing on housing and energy, designed to tackle important issues facing communities such as domestic violence, climate change and food waste.”

Tickets for Opportunities for Empowerment cost £150 per person and include overnight accommodation and all meals. As this course is CIH certified the hours spent on the course can be counted towards CIH qualifications.
