Community Enterprise: Creating sustainable communities

We are holding a special residential Think Tank on Community Enterprise for community volunteers and community organisers on how can social enterprises help communities become more sustainable.  This is a 24 hour residential at Trafford Hall, outside Chester, on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd June.

We want to help community volunteers understand what community enterprise does and what benefits it can bring to their community.  We also want to collect your ideas on what training and assistance your organisation would like going forwards. This will help us plan our new community training programme. We will “brainstorm” in the group on how to make community enterprises work.

We are charging £150 per person as we have to cover all costs including accommodation, meals, refreshments, information etc. I am attaching an outline programme for the event, along with booking and travel details.

Participants will contribute to the discussions, share their experiences and find new forms of support. The event will run on a peer-to-peer, open learning model with facilitators on hand to guide and support each table, making sure participants can share ideas in a friendly, supportive setting. We know how important it is to give participants the chance to network with different groups and develop mutual support. We want bright ideas to spread amongst community organisations, so please help us make this important event a success. We will also hear from some outstanding residents who have pioneered new ideas and made them work.

Summary:

Over this event we are to look at how social enterprise can help communities, we will be asking; how you can help, what are the barriers, where you can go for help with funding and what future courses could we run at Trafford Hall to help assist your organisation moving forwards.

We will hear inspiring stories from groups across the country who are already running their own successful community enterprise and learn from their experiences.

Participants will have the chance to share their own experiences and ask questions to experts in this field. This is a great opportunity to network with like-minded people from all corners of the UK.
